In line with the Mayor’s Economic Recovery Action Plan to support SMEs, a number of new organisations are now using CompeteFor to find suppliers. This has resulted in an even broader range of CompeteFor contracts being advertised from the likes of Transport for London, Think London and other public and private sector buyers. In this edition we profile these organisations and give businesses a heads up on new contracts that will be advertised in the coming months. Over 400 contracts were advertised on CompeteFor since our January newsletter from an exciting range of buying organisations. They include: - Transport for London: TfL have placed several contracts on CompeteFor from Private Hire Vehicles to cartography and consulting contracts. - Ove Arup & Partners: A global firm of designers, engineers, planners and business consultants providing a diverse range of professional services, Arup advertised for suppliers to service fire extinguishers, provide ongoing maintenance for computer rooms and provide lightning protection. - Visit London: The official visitor organisation for London and leader in best practice destination marketing, Visit London required a web hosting service. - BAM Nuttall: Civil Engineering specialists that also manages the design, construction and commissioning of any major project. BAM Nuttall has advertised 24 contracts on CompeteFor in the last month alone – from steel reinforcement to soil drainage. - Balfour Beatty: The main contractor responsible for the London 2012 Aquatic Centre, Balfour Beatty requires joinery and blockwork sub contractors. They also need a supplier of temporary toilet facilities. - RGE Services: A specialist Property Services Company that provides services for Local Authorities, Housing Associations and the private sector, RGE Services require decorators, light fittings and painting and decorating materials. Recently the total number of contract opportunities advertised on CompeteFor surpassed the 2,000 milestone, which illustrates that buyers are getting real value from the use of the website. The CompeteFor Buyer Engagement Team (BET) continues to strive to attract more and more organisations to use CompeteFor to fulfil their purchasing needs. To date, over 12,000 businesses have been shortlisted for CompeteFor contracts as potential suppliers. This is great news for SMEs that are not only looking to get involved in the Games, but also take advantage of other major projects across the UK.
